3-week Plan

Part I. Basic Slide Technique

Build a rock-solid slid foundation.

Slide, other than being a tool that you place on your finger, is a means to embellish what you’d normally play and make your guitar sound more lyrical—like a human voice.

We'll start with the basics. In this section, Ariel will run you through the ideal setup for playing slide guitar, proper right-and left-hand technique, vibrato, and attack. Once you’re comfortable with the fundamentals, we'll move onto more advanced material.

Part II. Making it Sing

Tackle expressive techniques to give your guitar a vocal-like quality.

In Part II, Ariel guides you through how to incorporate advanced techniques in your playing to give your guitar an expressive vocal quality. This section of the class is what's going to take your slide playing from good to great. You'll practice embellishments, raking, how to play "behind the slide", double stops, and chords.

Part III. Improvising

Move beyond slide licks by learning how to improvise your own lead guitar parts.

After a quick interlude lesson on Ariel’s approach to songwriting, we’ll move on to some practical exercises. In this section, you'll learn how to improvise in a live-band setting. We’ll use three professionally-produced backing tracks by Ariel with lead sheets to hone your improvisational skills.

Parts IV. & V.

Put your new skills to the test! These last two sections are all making it musical.

Part IV. Explain that Video!

In this section, Ariel will pull back the curtain on four of his most popular guitar videos.

For each video, you'll have interactive TAB and a lesson breakdown so you can learn exactly what Ariel was playing .These lessons are great ways to understand the concepts from this Master Class in a practical context.

Part V. SongSquad

To wrap up the class, we'll challenge you to learn four original tunes (called SongSquads) by Ariel that tie together everything you'll have learned in the previous sections of the class. For each song, there's interactive TAB and a lesson breakdown video.
